New Standards ‑ In June the US Department of Energy announced a National Definition of Zero Emissions Building – those that are highly energy efficient, do not emit greenhouse gases directly from energy use, and are powered solely by clean energy. The standard is expected to support the overall shift toward zero emissions for all residential and commercial buildings, and to advance both public and private sector climate goals. Learn more here.
AI on Rise ‑ The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), recently published the white paper, “How to Leverage AI in Property Management.” In it, it quotes the 2024 AppFolio Property Manager Benchmark Report that finds 21% of more than 5,000 property management professionals say they currently use AI — and an additional 28% plan to adopt it. Proptech sector growing – A recent CBRE report shows that the global real estate Proptech sector, valued at $18.2 trillion in 2022is expected to reach $86.5 trillion by 2032. Gaps in Latin America between start-up and traditional companies reflect the greatest opportunities for investment. Currently, more than half (53%) of Latin American investments are concentrated in Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia.
